The Worldwide Issue of Childhood Obesity
If every country was put a scale and measured against other countries, our country would be the heaviest. Fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s are the cause of problems relating to obesity around the world, especially among children. Obesity is becoming a worldwide problem due to overeating and poor lifestyle habits. Not only does obesity is a pain to daily life, it also affects your health. To begin with, overweight and obese children are becoming more common throughout the world, in fact, “ roughly 22 million are overweight children under the age of five,” that’s more than 12 percent of all the overweight children and teens under the age of 18 (Kelly, 1). If they continue these horrible habits, there will be more and more overweight adults as the children grow up. A big portion of the cause of obesity goes to eating unhealthy food. Fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s provide high-calories hamburgers and greasy fries to feed off your hunger. Although it is very delicious, such food is highly unhealthy and “a lot of governments are reluctant to regulate” because they would rather keep the economy up than the health of citizens (Kelly, 1).
