The Effects of Friendship Between Brothers in ArmsR.C.Sherriff wrote the journeys end play, in this essay I will write and discuss the love & care and the friendship between the soldiers that sheriff presents it in the play. One of the most important relationships in the play is between Stanhope and Osborne, “dear old uncle!” by using the word “old” it show that Osborne is older than Stanhope and the " uncle " it show that Stanhope respect Osborne as if he was an older man. He didn’t use the word ’’brother" to be more specific that Osborne is bigger in age of Stanhope and there relationship is so strong that cant breakdown. In addition, Raleigh knew Stanhope from school where he was skipper, but Stanhope was showing Raleigh at the being of the play that he is strict and taking everything badly.“D’you understands an order? Give me that letter!” in this quotation in show the strictness of Stanhope but that’s make Raleigh nervous but in the last sense of act 3 Stanhope shows his care to Raleigh so in this quotation “it’s awfully decent of you to brother, Dennis. I feel rotten lying here – everybody else – up there.” It shows that Stanhope orders that Raleigh be brought into his dugout. He comforts Raleigh while he lies in bed.
