Genocide in Darfur: Does Anyone Know?

Would one know where Darfur is? Would one know what Genocide is? Darfur is an area in the country of Sudan, meaning “Land of fur”. Genocide is defined as the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group. Why would one ask that these to two supposedly unrelated things be brought up? It’s simple, Genocide is happening in Darfur! The whole world has turned their backs as if nothing is happening. The government of Sudan cannot stop the rebellion of the SLA and JEM groups. United States troops need to be sent to Darfur to stop the extreme violation of human rights.
Darfur is a region which is poverty struck. It has mainly small villages scattered throughout the region, with a few small to medium size towns and camps. With barely any clean water villagers must travel out of the safety of their towns and villages to go to watering holes or water pump to retrieve water. With every trip comes the danger and almost certainty of being raped and/or killed by the Janjaweed militia.
The Janjaweed are militia’s that the Sudanese government hired to help control and stop the two rebel groups, the SLA and the JEM, from gaining any strength. The Janjaweed started out as small groups and horse and camel back raiders that would go to small villages on western Darfur and destroy everything.
