Inequalities within the Social Class System

Over the past decades women have struggle to achieve equal opportunities. Women have endured many obstacles although many years have gone by there is still a lot of room for improvement. Job opportunities are one of those obstacles that women have encounter throughout the years. Although many women are a lot more educated these days there is a struggle for them to advance in the workplace. Women today still struggle to achieve the same rate pay as man for doing the same job as them. Beside the unequal pay women have to deal with harassment at the workplace as well. So do men encounter the same inequalities as women? Does sexual harassment and the term “glass ceiling” go hand in hand when it comes to inequalities in the workplace regardless of class, race/ethnicity and gender? This paper will explore the inequalities of individuals of different class, race/ethnicity and gender when it comes to sexual harassment and the term “glass ceiling”.
The term sexual harassment is used to describe unwanted and offensive sexual advances or sexually derogatory or discriminatory remarks (Webster Dictionary, 2001).
