The Theme of Secrecy in Cormier's Book, I Am The CheeseIn the book I Am The Cheese by Robert Cormier an idea that I found interesting was secrecy. This was because Robert Cormier did not just keep things from the reader he also kept things from a character “Adam Farmer” even the secret that his name isn’t even Adam Farmer it is Paul Mont. I also found that the author gives clues that makes you think something suspicious is going on but the interesting thing is that not only does the reader know it Adam does to for example when Adam finds out that he has relatives or at least an aunty. The reason why is that Adam is finding in out for himself with the help of Brint in the OZk tape series so we the readers do not know anything that Adam doesn’t. In the book I am the cheese by robert cormier the person who interviews adam in the OZK tape series who, later in the book is known as Brint is an important character because he leads the reader into thinking that he is a normal doctor or psychiatrist helping Adam remember his past because he had a head injury or something similar. Later in the book this character slowly asks Adam questions that are more specific and not just general, getting agitated that he won’t remember or recall the questions that he is asking. As if he wanted to know something fast or had run out of patience. In my opinion this is not what a psychiatrist or doctor would do. They would want Adam to stay longer . . . read more. |
