Alcohol and Your Health
Many factors effect health positively and negatively. A negative factor that has become a past time for many teenagers is drinking alcohol. A fad for many teenagers is binge drinking. Many studies have shown, that people who drink throughout high school tend to be overweight and have high blood pressure by the time they’re in their 20’s. One beer contains around 150 calories. Binge drinkers have a harder time concentrating. Drinking interrupts sleeping patterns, making it difficult to stay awake, disrupting school and exercise. Drinkers get impaired judgment, where they take risks they would not do so when they are sober. People with impaired judgment may have unprotected sex putting them at a higher risk of a STI. They might get into a car with a drunken person driving, may leading to injuries or death. Teens drink and use other drugs because: they are curious, reduces stress, to fit in, or maybe to fit in. The idea of drinking comes from a very young age, by adults drinking socially or at dinner. It is also advertised in many movies and TV shows, such as “The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show”. It ends up seeming harmless to teens. People who continue to drink heavily in there road to adulthood can result in damaged organs, such as the liver, heart and brain.
