Peer Pressure
In my life I do not give into peer pressure. Peer Pressure is always around you especially in your teen days. Children grow up and move into teenage lifestyle, involvement with their peers, and how they look in other people eyes start to matter. They also develop a mind of their own, questioning the adult standards and need for their parental guidance. By trying new values and testing ideas with peers there is less of a chance of being criticized. Even through peer pressure can have positive effects, the most part is the bad part. Many times in a teenagers life there are choices that have to be made. Many of the choices us teenagers make are made by peer pressure. Peer pressure throws out the thought of being who you want to be; peer pressure is more reminiscent of “be like everybody else.”
There may be positive and negative effects to peer pressure. Peers can pressure you to join a club or team, to do an after-school activity or pressure you to NOT try something you want to do- like alcohol, drugs or sex. There are ways to get out of sticky situations and overcome peer pressure. Teens who get involved in activities- like sports or church youth groups or academic clubs- experience interacting with others on a positive level.
