Introduction and Hypothesis of Research Project on How Competition Affects the Growth of Mung Bean Seeds
Introduction: In this project, I will be investigating how competition affects the growth of mung bean seeds by measuring the percentage of seeds that have germinated from their specific cohort. Competition is a vital component of life to the million of organisms in the world. However, contrary to that belief, it is also the reason to major loss of life. Competition itself can come in the form of several factors, e.g. sunlight, water, density etc. Depending on which factor, constant competition is necessary for organisms, as it would allow them to better themselves. With the development of special features, in order to for them to adapt and compete with fellow species. Those who succeed, moves onto the next level, whilst those who have failed, it would only be a matter of time before they depart from the phase of earth. This experiment that will be carried out based on theme: competition. The chosen variable/medium for this experiment is, Mung bean seeds. Mung Bean seeds germinates very quickly so long as water and sunlight is present. As they germinate at a fast rate, it would be interesting to see how competition in the aspect of space becomes an issue. Mung Bean seeds are small, green and ovoid in shape ,and are usually used to make deserts. In this investigation, we shall be making use of mung bean seeds as our medium for germination. . . . read more.
