A Proud College Student

“Whoever teaches his son teaches not alone his son but also his son’s son, and so on to the end of generations” is a Hebrew proverb about education and how it helps generations succeed, this is what my father has taught me. My father did not go to college, he didn’t graduate high school, at the young age of 11 he was selling newspaper to help support his family and himself. What my dad taught me was how to be a good moral person in life and how to always value life and its offerings. I am the first generation of my family of 3 siblings to go to college, I am my families role model. The main reason why college is a primary option in my life is because it will help me become a more intellectual person in today’s society and it will make my family proud.
“You are lucky, you have opportunities I never had when I was your age” says dad.
Is what I always hear my dad tell me every time I’m stressing about school. School and education always been in my mind mainly because how I see my dad struggle at his job. How life could’ve been different if my dad went to get a higher education, I never blame him for his choices because at that time his main priority was support himself and family.
