The Terroristic Actions of the KKK in the Movie Mississippi Burning

I can’t tell you just how many times I have seen the movie, I do wish though I could recall the first time. Each time I see the movie I believe I get a different reaction, my virgin response might be a wow, and hurray for the good guys, but now it’s more a disbelief and anger for the lack of government intervention prior to the events that the movie is based on. Mississippi Burning is truly a well made movie that has lasted the test of times, but one must remember that it is still just a move, with variables like directors choice, to increase or decrease the issues for entertainment purposes. Also the times in which the movie was made dictated the some of the censorship.The movie started with three civil rights workers driving through Jessup County, two white and the third black. What’s not shown but refereed to through innuendo is that the local chapter of the KKK had known of their arrival and had been waiting for them. These three individuals where not particularly dangers to the KKK and their way of life, but these three were neither the first nor it is presumed that they would be the last, unless a message was sent. The civil rights workers from the north were targeted as a vehicle for the message to be sent back to the north from which they came.
