A member of the Ibo tribe in Nigeria, Okonkwo was a man of power and substance who allowed power to consume him. Okonkwo tried so hard not to be a failure like his father, but that led him to his downfall. His personal achievments and wealth showed his success. The book Things Fall Apart was written by Chinua Achebe. Achebe was born in the month of November on the sixteenth day in the year 1930 in Ogidi, Nigeria. Other pieces of work published by Achebe are ‘No Longer at Ease,’Arrow of God and ‘Girls at War’ and so much more. This book Things Fall Apart was first published in 1958 by William Heinemann Ltd and in 1971 by the New Windmill Series. It was published in Oxford at Heinemann Educational Publishers.Although Okonkwo father was lazy and had no titles in the Ibo tribe, Okonkwo was a great man in Umuofia. Okonkwo despised his father and tries very hard to be nothing like him. Since Okonkwo was young he began building his social status by defeating a great wrestler. He was hard-working and showed no weakness or emotions. He was wealthy , courageous and powerful among the other villages.
