The Application of Psychology in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)

All of us question what is psychology? Many of us that are uninformed assume it as a bad thing or as a scary thing but it is far from that. Psychology is a science or study of the thought processes and behavior of humans and other animals in their interaction with the environment. Psychologists study processes of sense perception, thinking, learning, cognition, emotions and motivations, personality, abnormal behavior, interactions between individuals, and interactions with the environment. Psychology has changed over the years and it probably changed many people’s lives where we have a system that might help out with mental health problems, disorders or emotional situations. In the following movie we get to see how psychology was applied.

The movie One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest directed by Milos Forman made in 1975 portrayed psychology in a bad light. Now knowing that people have more knowledge in this field I know it’s nothing like in this movie. The main character of the movie was Randal Patrick Mc Murphy. He was sent to the institute to be evaluated for four weeks in order to avoid a prison sentence.
