Personal Narrative- Best Friend

As I drifted down the hall, it seemed as if it were endless. I could not feel my feet strike the ground, nor could I hear the many voices gossiping around me. While all students at Hotchkiss High School were enjoying a normal break between 6th and 7th hour, I was experiencing some of the most surreal four minutes of my life. I was the only one who knew what had happened. There had been a horrific car accident earlier that morning. It was someone I knew. It was my best friend.

RRRIIING. The bell signaled the end of second hour and the start of the portion of the morning that everyone looks forward to: break. I usually walk to our lockers with Sherrie, so when I noticed my stroll was a solo one, I began to ponder where she could be. An appointment? No, she always tells me when she knows she’s going to be gone. Just wanting to sleep in? Maybe. Through all of these thoughts, an annoying voice in the back of my head kept reminding me that something could be wrong. Just when I would begin to think about my homework or talk with my friends, my mind would become haunted by the thought that Sherrie wasn’t ok. After asking around, no one could tell me where my best friend was.
