The Miracle Of Life -- Stem Cells
The miracle of life- Stem cells For over decades, scientists have generated so much enthusiasm on the research of stem cells. Even though the research on stem cells has involved in many ethical issues, however; it is the only way to cure some fatal illnesses and if well used in practicing medicine, it will become a disease curing miracle. So there comes the question, what are stem cells? “Stem cell is a basic type if cell which can divide and develop into cells with particular function.” It is a cell will develop in any organism and have the characteristics to renew themselves. The most ethically argument comes from the source of the stem cell. Most promising categories of stem cells are embryonic stem cells derived from the five-seven day old embryos. And the others were come from embryonic germ cells, which are derived from immature aborted fetuses. The embryonic stem cells were the left-over from in-vitro fertilization procedures. Prior the fertilization, there were 24 ova take out from the female donor and after the fertilization procedure has done in the lab, 2-4 of these embryos will be implanted into the mother’s womb to be grew to babies. And the other 20 of their “brother and sisters” which is still cells undeveloped will be deep frozen in liquid nitrogen and eventually be discarded. Some pro- life supporters have argued that if it is an embryo, it has the potential to grow into a complete . . . read more.
